About Us

The Sergiu Celibidache Foundation has as main object of activity the promotion of culture and art and particularly, the preservation and the cultivation of the musical heritage of Sergiu Celibidache, as well as the promotion of the understanding of the importance and value of his work.

Our purposes will be fulfilled mainly through:

• Collecting, examining and organizing all the documents and information related to the life and work of Sergiu Celibidache: founding a museum, a library and an image and sound archive, with all the required technical equipment;
• The preservation of the musical heritage of Sergiu Celibidache, especially through active copyright protection, through watch over and following the possible violations of copyrights in Romania as well as abroad;
• Developing, financing, co-financing and organizing musical activities both in Romania and abroad.

Through our activity we develop and support programs of : teaching and education for soloists and conductors, both for chamber music and orchestras; we organize seminars, academic conventions; we edit publications, reports and conventions, image and sound materials in the purpose of study and documentation; we award tuition and research scholarships; we organize concerts, lectures and competitions; we award sponsorships, scholarships and personal prizes, especially to artists, instructors, pupils and students whose activity is linked to the objective of the Foundation; we organize and offer support in order to make memorials of Sergiu Celibidache, both in Romania and abroad; we organize teaching trips that favor the teaching process, in places of cultural interest linked to the heritage of Sergiu Celibidache, both in Romania and abroad; we collaborate with specialized persons/institutions in order to prepare works that contribute to or help realize the objective of the Sergiu Celibidache Foundation.
