The duo comprised of the “Grand Dame of the Violin” Ida Haendel and the impressive pianist Misha Dacic will rejoice the auditorium with a sensational performance on the 5th of July, at the Romanian Athenaeum, starting at 8.00 pm. With this occasion, the Maestra returns to our country, after she held, during the month of May, a violin master class, an event part of the Sergiu Celibidache Festival, which started on the 3rd of May.
One of the Closest People to Sergiu Celibidache, Alongside “Moldova” State Philharmonic in Iaşi
The series of concert part of the Sergiu Celibidache Festival continues on the 4th of July, at the Romanian Athenaeum, at 8 pm. The “Moldova” State Philharmonic in Iasi will hold a concert under the baton of the famous conductor Rony Rogoff.
Sergiu Celibidache’s Friends, On the 3rd of July, at the Romanian Athenaeum
The evening of 3rd of July gathers Celibidache’s friends under the umbrella of an event-concert. On the scene of the Romanian Athenaeum, starting with 8 pm, there will be: Henschel Quartet, Ida Haendel, Misha Dacic, Wolfgand Gaag, Dorin Marc, Helmut Nicolai. Together, the Maestros will offer a wonderful show in honor of Sergiu Celibidache, under aegis of Celi’s Friends. The concert is part of the First Edition of Sergiu Celibidache Festival.
German Brass - from Scheidt to Shostakovich, from Dixieland to Bossa Nova, on the 2nd of July, at the Romanian Athenaeum
The German Brass represents a tradition, as well as the innovation of the brass music. The ensemble is in Romania for the first time and will hold a concert on the 2nd of July at the Romanian Athenaeum , starting at 8 pm. Sunday, the 1st of July, 8 pm, at the Romanian Athenaeum, Maestro Enrique Garcia Asensio will conduct the George Enescu Philharmonic, with renowned violin player Liviu Prunaru as a soloist. The evening will be inaugurated with “Celibidachiana“ (composition dedicated to Sergiu Celibidache), by Anton Garcia Abril
The Concert Series of the Sergiu Celibidache Festival is inaugurated with “The Pocket Garden” composition by Sergiu Celibidache
On the 30th of June, at the Romanian Athenaeum, the audience will encounter the composition of Sergiu Celibidache, “The Pocket Garden”, which had the first Romanian audition in Iasi, in 2006.
Composed by Sergiu Celibidache in 1978, Der Taschengarten (The Pocket Garden) is a suite for orchestra in 13 parts. The idea was born out of a close collaboration with children and is also – in the tradition of impressionist ballet for children – dedicated to them. The music presents common points with the styles of Maurice Ravel and Igor Stravinsky.
The Park in Drumul Taberei will be named Sergiu Celibidache
Serge Ioan Celibidache a fost invitatul de onoare al primarului Cristian Poteraş în vizita parcului din Drumul Taberei, ce va purta numele de Sergiu Celibidache. Aflat chiar în Piaţa Sergiu Celibidache, parcul Sergiu Celibidache va fi transformat, de către Primăria de sector, în cel mai mare parc din sectorul 6, lucrările pentru reamenajare fiind acoperite din fonduri europene.
The premiere of the movie „Romanian Born to Conduct a World”
On the 24th of May, at 7.30 pm, the premiere of the movie „Romanian Born to Conduct a World” will take place, as a testimony of a fascinanting personality, of the strength to succeed worldwide from Roman, Neamţ county. The movie will be projected in the Grand Epika Hall at the Grand Cinema Băneasa in Băneasa Shopping City, and is made by the Fundatia Sergiu Celibidache, in co-production with the Romanian Television.
The Exhibit “Fragments from the Life of Maestro Sergiu Celibidache” is open to the public
Cesianu-Racoviţă Palace was, last night, the host of the varnishing day of the “Fragments from the Life of Maestro Sergiu Celibidache” exhibit. The exhibit reunites over 100 works that contain classic photographs and handcrafted photographs on wood. The photographs, a first for Romania, make a chronological image of Sergiu Celibidache’s life and are a part of the personal collection of the Celibidache family.
THE FLUTE MASTERCLASS HELD BY MAESTRO MICHAEL MARTIN KOFLER HAS BEGUN
Martin Kofler has arrived today in Bucharest, the Maestro that holds the Flute Masterclass at the Bucharest University of Music, part of the Sergiu Celibidache 100 Festival, until the 20th of May. Martin Kofler (who played under the baton of Sergiu Celibidache) is not at his first visit to Romania, the artist having visited our country in 2008, but also in 1999 alongside Sergiu Celibidache and the Munich Philharmonic, when he held two concerts at the Romanian Athenaeum. About that visit, Maestro Kofler nostalgically remembers that „it was an extremely beautiful week; it was like a holiday for me”.
„Fragments from the life of Maestro Sergiu Celibidache”
Fundaţia Sergiu Celibidache continues the series of cultural manifestations dedicated to the Centenary from the birth of the great conductor, Sergiu Celibidache, with a photographic exhibit, which will take place between the 22nd and the 27th of May 2012. A series of images from the life of the Maestro will be on display at the Artmark Galleries, Cesianu-Racoviţă Palace (C.A. Rosetti Street, no. 5, district 1, Bucharest). Among the over 1000 displayed works, one can find classic photographs, as well as handcrafted photographs on wood.

The masterclass session, part of the Sergiu Celibidache Festival, was one of good omen for the young people that enrolled and actively participated at these classes. The most talented out of these participants will have the possibility to continue their studies abroad, under the guidance of world-renowned artists.

Starting tomorrow, Dorin Marc will hold a Contrabass Masterclass at the Bucharest University of Music, between 16th and 20th of May, being the third artist who arrives at the Sergiu Celibidache 100 Festival.
THE CHAMBER MUSIC MASTERCLASS WITH HELMUTH NICOLAI BEGINS!
Maestro Helmuth Nicolai arrived last night in Bucharest, being the second international artist who arrives in Bucharest (after Ida Haendel) for the First Edition of the Sergiu Celibidache Festival. The artist returns to Romania after his last visit in the country was alongside Maestro Sergiu Celibidache and the Munich Philharmonica.

One of the most renowned violinists of the world, Maestra Ida Haendel received the title of Doctor Honoris Causa of the National University of Music. The award ceremony took place yesterday, 14th of May 2012, at 3.00 pm, in an academic setting, at the George Enescu Hall of the Bucharest National University of Music. At the ceremony there were present The Madrigal Choir, professors of UNMB, Serge Ioan Celibidache and students of the University.
CELIBIDACHE by Jan Schmidt-Garre, in Bucharest!
The premiere of the second movie about the Maestro, called “Celibidache” by Jan Schmidt-Garre, took place yesterday evening, 10th of May 2012. The projection at the Grand EPIKA Hall, at the Grand Cinema Digiplex from Băneasa Shopping City, is a part of the First Edition of Sergiu Celibidache Festival. The director could not be at the premiere of his movie due to medical reasons, as he has a broken leg.
The Launch of the Sergiu Celibidache Anniversary Coin!
Wednesday, 9th of May 2012, at 5.00 pm, in the enclosure of the Romanian National Bank, in the Mitita Constantinescu room, the event of launching a commemorative numismatic coin took place, marking the Sergiu Celibidache Centenary.
The Governor of the Romanian National Bank, Mugur Isarescu opened the event with a speech, Serge Ioan Celibidache. In his turn, he gave to the famous violinist Ida Haendel, a coin with the face of his father.
The books about Sergiu Celibidache have been launched!
Yesterday evening, the 7th of May, the release of the books “On Musical Phemenology” by Sergiu Celibidache and “Celibidache: Encounters with an Exceptional Man” by Patrick Lang and Stéphane Müller, took place. The event is a part of the First Edition of the Sergiu Celibidache Festival that started on Thursday, the 3rd of May.

Sergiu Celibidache Foundation announces the opening of the first edition of the Sergiu Celibidache Festival, which will take place during May 3rd – July 7th 2012 in Bucharest. This festival is organized on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great Romanian conductor, the year 2012 being declared UNESCO Anniversary of Sergiu Celibidache.

Sergiu Celibidache is the symbol of the Romanian talent and strength to succeed: from Roman, Neamt, to the whole world
The Sergiu Celibidache Festival represents, from my point of view, a moral obligation of each Romanian: that of celebrating the 100 years since the birth of the Maestro, but also a moral obligation towards us as Romanians, to honor the values that our country has given to the world.
We are a country lately overwhelmed by an unfavorable image outside of the borders and we have this tendency to turn into people without national pride, without trust in ourselves, for various reasons… too many to mention here.

UNESCO has declared 2012 as the Global Anniversary of Sergiu Celibidache.
