Anton Garcia Abril about „ Celibidachiana”: „Celibidachiana is a composition dedicated to the great Maestro and friend Sergiu Celibidache. However it is not only a special dedication to him, but also, besides that, I wanted to get closer to the „Celibidachian” understanding of music. The esthetic-technical attitude of Celibidache to the music phenomenon must be analyzed profoundly. Celibidache gets closer to music through a philosophy full of greatness and simplicity. The technical inspiration and intuition emphasize his high personality as an artist. He is capable of impressing even the composer of the piece himself. Sergiu Celibidache transforms exactly what is difficult to analyze and explain in art, after a scientific and psychological study, into an additional aspect of that “music phenomenology”, which can be seen as a constant of his personality. These briefly jotted points of view and many others of the human being represent the “Celibidache” where the title of the composition comes from and impresses. These conditions which coincide completely with my technical-esthetic attention to music represent to a certain extent the motivation and the starting point to achieve “elegy for the orchestra”.

GERMAN BRASS

Location: Romanian Athenaeum, Grand Hall

German Brass represents both the tradition and the innovation in brass music. It was founded in 1974 and has since become a synonym for brass music at its highest level, influencing it decisively. German Brass has succeeded in creating "diversity in unity", by producing a unique, unmistakable congregated sound with ten performers and renowned soloists from outstanding first-class German orchestras. As an ensemble they play chamber music, with a symphonic magnificence and dynamics that only brass instrumentalists can produce. The repertoire of German Brass includes all stylistic directions and kinds from Scheidt to Shostakovich, from Dixieland to Bossa Nova. It contains both classical, “timeless”, and entertaining elements. In their concerts the ensemble nurtures and surmounts the division of two kinds of musical styles with professionalism and fun. The program from the Sergiu Celibidache Festival contains arrangements of classical works as well as adaptations and compositions of musical evergreens which have mostly been arranged and composed specially for German Brass and pay tribute to the typical sound and the technical brilliance of the ensemble.
