The first edition of the “ Sergiu Celibidache” Festival
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great conductor
2012 UNESCO Aniversary “Sergiu Celibidache”
We have joined other countries that organize festivities on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great Romanian conductor. The “Sergiu Celibidache 100” Festival is a biannual event and takes place in Bucharest during May 3rd – July 7th 2012.

- World Premiere of the composition “Haz de necaz” by Sergiu Celibidache
“Teaching is the noblest human activity”.This was the credo of Sergiu Celibidache, to which he dedicated his entire spirit and which he inspired also into exceptional instrumentalists as well as into all the students who wanted to assimilate the wonderful conducting techniques of the Maestro. Some of them are the guests of this year’s Festival: Ida Haendel, Helmut Nicolai, Dorin Marc, Michael Martin Kofler, Wolgang Gaag, Rony Rogoff and Enrique Garcia Asensio.

Held at the Romanian Atheneum with famous international artists, former students of Celibidache and first class orchestras of Romania.
Among the countries which will celebrate through festivals the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Maestro, Romania is the only one that benefits from this wonderful and unique event – the unveiling of the composer side of the world’s greatest conductor. This event will remain in the music history of the world and will live on for the future generations. Romania will thus impose itself on the world cultural map in a unique way.
